Having formerly lived in Africa and the West Indies, Babette has lived in Dorset for the last four years. Well know for her funny, witty, unconventional approach to children's picture books, she is one of the world's best loved authors. Babette uses a mixture of water colour die, pastel, pencil, crayon dash, and oil pastels when illustrating, and creates fun and educational stories that have captured the imaginations of children around the world. She considers that visual images and the written word are of equal importance in children's books, and that illustrations are key to getting younger children interested in reading.
